This frame is one of a pair of rope frames. The bottom portion mostly missing and on the left side the rope is badly damaged. A few other smaller repairs are in the center. The loose or remaining pieces of the damaged rope were removed. A mold was made of the top part of the rope on the frame, and new pieces were made for the bottom and part of the sides. Also missing at the bottom is a small decorative detail that runs around the very bottom. All the loose gesso at the bottom was moved and new gesso was applied down to where the decorative molding was missing, as well as the corners where a few pieces were also missing. The new pieces were gilding and received a patina to match it to the finish on the other parts of the frame.
